Who is responsible for your information?

Isabel Designs is a sole-trader business run by Isabel Bamford in Dorset. I am responsible for deciding how personal information is used by the business (the data controller).

Information I use

• When you contact me: your name, email address, message and any other details you choose to provide.
• When you place an order with me: contact and delivery details, the items ordered, payment status, and correspondence about delivery, returns or refunds.
• When you visit this site: the hosting service may process technical information such as your IP address, browser details and request logs to deliver and protect the site.

The contact form opens your own email app with your details and message filled in. Those details reach me when you send the email; the form does not save submissions in a website database. Please do not include card details or sensitive personal information in a message.

Why I use it

• To answer enquiries, fulfil orders and handle returns: to take steps at your request before a contract and to perform that contract.
• To keep records required for tax and accounting or respond to lawful requests: to meet legal obligations.
• To manage ordinary correspondence, resolve disputes and keep the business and website secure: my legitimate interests in running and protecting a small business, balanced against your rights.

Information needed to fulfil an order is necessary for that purpose; without it I may be unable to process or deliver your order. This site currently has no newsletter sign-up or advertising analytics added by Isabel Designs. I do not sell personal information.

Who receives it

I share only the information needed for the relevant task with service providers: Google’s Gmail service for email correspondence; Royal Mail for delivery, including your name, delivery address and contact details where needed for delivery notifications; and the website hosting services, OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare, for operating and securing this site.

When online checkout is available, Stripe collects and processes your payment details on its own hosted checkout page. Isabel Designs does not receive or store your full card number or security code. Stripe provides payment status, order references, contact details and delivery information needed to fulfil your order. Stripe also processes information for payment security and fraud prevention under its privacy policy.

Information may also be shared with professional advisers or public authorities where necessary to meet legal obligations or handle a legal claim. Links to Instagram take you to a separate service whose privacy policy applies there.

Some providers operate internationally and may process information outside the UK. Where a restricted international transfer is made on my behalf, applicable UK data-protection safeguards are required, such as an adequacy decision or approved contractual protections. Contact me for more information about the providers and safeguards relevant to your information.

How long information is kept

I keep enquiry correspondence only as long as needed to answer you and manage any resulting relationship or dispute. Order and financial records are kept for the period required by tax and accounting rules, and relevant records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to establish or defend legal claims. When information is no longer needed, it is deleted or anonymised.

Retention depends on the purpose, applicable legal requirements and whether an issue remains unresolved. You can contact me about the retention of a particular record.

Cookies and local storage

The basket uses your browser’s local storage, under the name “isabel-cart”, to remember your chosen items and quantities. When you start checkout, the product IDs and quantities are sent to this site to check prices and stock and create an order. Basket data remains on your device until changed or removed; you can clear it through your browser’s site-data settings.

An essential cookie named “__Host-isabel-buyer” links your browser to your checkout and lets you securely check your order status. It lasts for up to one year. Session storage remembers a checkout attempt to help avoid duplicates, and local storage records when purchased items have been removed from your basket. Stripe may use essential technology on its hosted checkout page for payments and fraud prevention.

Isabel Designs has not added advertising or analytics cookies. The hosting platform may use essential cookies or similar technology for security and access, including sign-in while this site is access-restricted. Its handling of account information is covered by OpenAI’s privacy policy.

Keeping information safe

I take reasonable steps to protect personal information and limit access to people and providers who need it. Please share only the information needed for your enquiry or order.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access, correct or erase your personal information, restrict its use, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or receive certain information in a portable format. Where consent is relied on, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.

Email isabel.fr.designs@gmail.com to exercise your rights. Requests are normally free and I will usually respond within one month. I may need information to confirm your identity; some rights have legal exceptions.

You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. You do not have to contact me first.

Updates

I will update this notice when the way I use personal information changes, including when payment services or other features are introduced. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
